Litigation Associate – Medical Malpractice Defense


Donohue Brown Smyth seeks an associate to join its busy litigation practice, with a strong focus on medical malpractice defense. The ideal candidate will have exceptional academic and professional credentials, along with strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills. Qualifications & Responsibilities:
• Active Illinois state bar license.
• 3-5 years of litigation experience.
• Outstanding research and writing abilities.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative and sound judgment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively
• Experience analyzing complex legal issues and producing high-quality work.
• Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership over assignments.
Compensation & Benefits:
DBS offers a competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as long-term and short-term disability coverage. Additional perks include a transportation benefit, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and parental leave. Due to the nature of the role, this position is primarily in-office. The anticipated salary ranges from $115,000 to $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional income opportunities include discretionary profit-sharing contributions, typically awarded annually, and a merit-based discretionary bonus.
