School Law Assoicate



Petrarca, Gleason, Boyle and Izzo, LLC is seeking an attorney to join our practice as an Associate in our Downers Grove or Flossmoor office. Excellent analytical, writing, research and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities:
Assist generally with the representation of public school districts and other local government entities, including but not limited to: Providing advice and guidance on student discipline, records and residency matters Providing advice and guidance on Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act compliance Preparing opinion letters on various issues Drafting, reviewing, and revising governance documents such as school board policies and procedures, ordinances, resolutions, employee and student handbooks Drafting, reviewing, and revising transactional documents (e.g., contracts for goods and services, intergovernmental agreements, professional service agreements) Assisting clients with labor relations matters (e.g., negotiation and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolution and arbitration) Representation of clients in matters before the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board and National Labor Relations Board Tenured teacher and employee discipline/dismissal hearings and proceedings Representation of clients in administrative proceedings before the Cook County Human Rights Commission, EEOC, and IDHR
Skills and Qualifications Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school Ability to handle multiple projects and understand the importance of deadlines Takes initiative on projects Pays attention to detail Experience with Microsoft Office
