Staff Attorney - Pace Suburban Bus, Arlington Heights, IL


Pace Suburban Bus, Arlington Heights, IL. GovHR is pleased to announce the recruitment and selection process for two Staff Attorney positions. Under the direction of the General Counsel, the Staff Attorney represents Pace and its employees in property damage, subrogation, and personal injury matters in various forums, and handles other duties as assigned. We are seeking an ideal candidate for the Staff Attorney position who possesses exceptional reading comprehension, research, and both verbal and written communication skills. The perfect fit for this role will be highly organized, detail oriented, and exhibit a resourceful team-player mentality. The ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines is essential. We require a candidate who is a proficient negotiator with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Confidentiality maintenance is imperative, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in this area.

Position responsibilities include:

• Prosecuting/defending property damage subrogation cases.
• Negotiating the settlement of claims and lawsuits.
• Drafting settlement documents.
• Propounding/answering written discovery.
• Issuing and answering subpoenas.
• Taking/defending depositions.
• Monitoring and tracking cases.
• Drafting pleadings and motions.
• Appearing in court.
• Prosecuting/defending cases at mandatory arbitrations, pretrial conferences, and trial.
• Conducting legal research.
• Preparing and implementing case strategy.
• Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment but travel to Cook and its collar counties is required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and juris doctor degree.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and admitted to the Illinois State Bar.
• 5 years of previous work experience prosecuting and/or defending personal injury cases.
• Excellent reading comprehension, research, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and resourceful team player.
• Strong computer skills, including using Westlaw and proficient using Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in jury trials.

Salary and Benefits

The expected hiring range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 dependent on qualifications. In addition to generous health, dental, and vision benefit programs, Pace also offers the following comprehensive benefits package:
