Associate Attorney

Miner, Barnhill & Galland, P.C. (MBG) seeks to hire an experienced associate attorney for its transactional practice in the Chicago, Illinois office. MBG is nationally known for representing non-profit organizations in transactional matters, many of which are focused on empowering communities through providing affordable housing and quality healthcare. Our practice has represented general non-profit clients in all facets of operation, including corporate governance, contract review, asset purchases, leases and sales, personnel matters, and strategic planning. The firm has an affordable-housing practice that spans four decades; we represent low-income housing developers, both non-profit and for-profit, in the acquisition, construction, and rehab of affordable housing. In addition, the firm counsels federally qualified health centers in a full spectrum of legal activity related to the delivery of high-quality health care to underserved communities; a variety of social service agencies that deliver a spectrum of care to children and seniors; and a host of not for profit entities that provide educational services and other philanthropic-related services to families and individuals.

Approximately 3-5 years of experience with real estate law, complex commercial real estate finance, and some knowledge of government financing is preferred. Experience with not for-profit corporations and corporate general practice is welcome, but not required. Strong communication and writing skills, as well as the ability to multi-task, to work independently, and to work collaboratively with others are desired. Attention to detail, a demonstrated interest in economic development and/or our practice areas, and strong technology skills are sought as well.

The firm has a reputation for serving the common good through its historic legal advocacy and the community service of its former and current attorneys, including tenured law professors, federal judges, U.S. Senators, and former President Barack Obama. We seek to cultivate a kind, diverse, collaborative, ethical, and professional environment, and do excellent work on issues we care about and find intellectually challenging.
