Senior Legal Assistant, Chicago



We are seeking an experienced, Senior Legal Assistant to join our entrepreneurial, nimble employment law firm. This full-time, in-person position will work directly with the Firm's owner, attorneys, administrative staff, and clients to provide outstanding support to our attorneys and client services. The ideal candidate has great customer service skills, loves to take care of others and is one hundred percent a team player.

This position is responsible for managing the work demands of the owner and staff attorneys by handling the details with a sparkling attitude. You'll be in the center of it all: triaging emails, taking phone calls, managing calendars, keeping up electronic records and providing legal document support as well as light billing duties and some marketing support. We want to see a resume filled to the brim with previous experience working in a law firm as a Legal Assistant.

This job is located in our Chicago office. The Legal Assistant must be able to come into the office five days a week. We are not offering relocation assistance, residence in the Chicago metro area is required.

This is NOT a remote position. You will HAVE to to be in the office supporting our team daily.

Compensation: $52,000 + benefits and potential for bonus compensation.

Responsibilites

Answer the phone, triage calls, take messages, and directly assist callers wherever possible. The LA will have a backup from our 24/7 answering service

Triage Owner and attorney email so they can handle priority matters effectively

Manage the Owner's and multiple firm calendars and coordinate with the owner and attorneys to help the legal team efficiently manage time

Have an active role in participating in and tracking business building projects, including client recruitment and maintenance efforts to help the Firm keep growing!

Keep all of our process documents in our shared drive up to date, as well as maintain all of our Firm documents, so that our matters and processes are always up to date

Manage the firm's billing process, retainer replenishment process, and A/R collections to ensure that the Firm always has sufficient cash to meet cash requirements

Establish and strengthen relationships with professional referral partners (B2B) and the Firm's current and former clients (B2C) by supporting the Firm's back-end marketing systems

The LA will be responsible for obtaining testimonials from happy clients and may assist with managing social media accounts, posting blogs, staff bios, and other content to the Firm's website, and sending out newsletters.

Qualifications


3+ years of legal assistant experience in a law firm


Demonstrated typing proficiency (determined by an assessment)

Current member of NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) or other legal assistant association is a plus, but not required

Knowledge of legal research software, Apple and PC computers running Microsoft 365

Proficient Zoom user/moderator

Outstanding phone and people skills


US work authorization
