Senior Succession Attorney (Illinois & Indiana)
Cox, Oakes & Associates, Ltd., a small 2-attorney diverse practice located in Schaumburg, Illinois, is seeking a qualified attorney for a full-time senior position.
Position Overview
• Role: Senior Trust, Estates, Real Estate, Corporate, Securities and Litigation Attorney.
•Objective: Assume responsibility for sophisticated and diverse legal matters.
•Firm: Small, highly reputable 2-attorney practice with a loyal client base.
• Path: Full-time, partnership-track, senior counsel or practice merger.
Core Practice Areas
• Multifamily Real Estate: Managing complex commercial transactions and specialized multifamily property financing.
•Private Capital Markets: Structuring private placements and private equity transactions.
Estate Planning Drafting high-net-worth trusts, wills, and comprehensive wealth-transfer strategies.
•Taxation: Navigating sophisticated corporate, real estate, and individual tax planning .
•Litigation: Handling commercial disputes, and real estate conflicts.
•Employment Law: Representing employers in diverse employment law matters.
•Corporate Law: Advising and drafting business structures and providing corporate governance counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary contact to retain long-term client trust. Transactional Execution: Draft, negotiate, and close real estate transactions, financings and private capital transactions.
Courtroom Advocacy: Manage all phases of ongoing commercial litigation.
Law Practice Management: Supervise support staff and law practice operations Key Responsibilities
Position Requirements
•Experience: Minimum of 10 years of active practice handling business transactions and litigation in the relevant legal fields with practice management experience.
•Strong Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
•Licensure: Active state bar license in good standing in Illinois with additional licensure in Indiana preferred.
•Independence: Proven capability to manage a diverse legal practice without supervision.
•Entrepreneurship: Desire to lead a small firm environment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Compensation is competitive and is commensurate with experience. The position has a base salary and compensation for fee originations. The firm has a comprehensive benefits package, which includes PTO, health insurance with employer contribution to premiums, employer paid STD and LTD insurance, 401(k) plan with employer match, and a non-qualified deferred compensation retirement plan, and a calendar year-end performance-based discretionary bonus opportunity.
