The career is demanding and takes a confident, intelligent self-starter who enjoys helping people who are injured, enjoys the demands of working in litigation, and can handle the workload and commitment. You must understand the damages involved in a personal injury case, the jury system, efiling in Cook and outlying counties, motion practice, and understand the discovery rules and case management scheduling, including disclosure of witnesses, treating doctors and expert witnesses, and the distinction between them.
