Experienced Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Our office has an immediate opening for an experienced legal assistant / paralegal. While no formal paralegal training is required, candidates who have completed a paralegal certificate program or have previous experience as a legal assistant or paralegal will be given preference.
Applicants must have a high school diploma, but it's preferred that they have either a 4 year college degree or 2 year associate degree. Prior experience working within a professional office is a bonus.
Applicants must have a genuine desire to work in a law firm and assist clients as they go through some of the toughest times of their lives. We litigate cases on a daily basis, have direct contact with clients, opposing counsel and our attorneys are regularly in court.
Our legal assistant must be able to help our attorneys by relieving them of tasks including communicating with clients, scheduling, typing emails and letters, drafting simple motions and legal documents for attorney review, and taking initial calls from potential clients. Great communication skills are important as is an attention to detail. Must be professional and polite to all within the office and everyone we work with.
The hired applicant will work with several attorneys within our firm and will assist with answering phones and helping the other staff members with duties within the office.
The assigned caseload will include civil matters including family law, insurance defense for auto accidents, traumatic personal injury cases for plaintiffs, debt collection defense matters and business litigation.
The position will come with a salary base of $35,000, and benefits including life insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off including all major holidays, and reviews at 90 days and annually where merit based raised are given.
