About the position:
-You will be a student of our process and the client experience, which is the foundation for you developing into a respected leader in the area of Estate Planning and Elder Law.
-From the beginning, this position involves significant client contact, where you'll guide clients through the process of clarifying their planning preferences and minimizing threats they face.
-Success in this position will come through humility, practice and study. This role is about developing your leadership skills in order to become a knowledgeable guide for families at life's transition points.

We are expanding our team to meet our rapidly growing client demand and have an opening for an Estate Planning / Elder Law Attorney and will partner with other team members to support them through our process.

What you can expect in this role: This role offers a great balance of independence, taking care of clients, and delivering value to families. The days fly by as you meet with clients, guide them through the planning process and work with teammates to answer questions.
Who this position is for:
This role is for an experienced attorney with 2 years of experience, who is interested in applying their skill at a more productive and rewarding level. In this role, you will partner with the founding attorney to lead the estate planning experience we provide to clients. Your role as an attorney with Heartland is not only to ensure the legal technical aspects of each plan are correct, but you will also be working as an advocate for each of your client's Well-Being.

Attorney Responsibilities:


Interview clients to assess their planning needs.

Design plans to meet client needs.

Create visual design overviews of the plan design.

Meet with clients to review the visual plan design.

Draft, review and edit documents for signing.

Educate clients to get comfortable to sign their plans.

Guide the client through our process to fund trusts.

Build rapport and maintain client relationships over time.

Answer questions and provide information to prospective clients.

Create and maintain a smooth, enjoyable estate planning experience.

Lead client meetings both live and via zoom.

Create a meaningful and comfortable experience for clients.

Qualifications:

Two years experience as an attorney.

Must have a passion driving your work and dedication to this area of practice.

Must be a self-starter, confident and be willing to learn, follow and improve the process.

Must be comfortable working face to face with people and able to communicate at an elevated level of care, and professionalism while being an approachable advisor to every client.

Must have the emotional awareness to read clients who face difficulties, and to successfully adjust to guide them through to safety.

Excellent proofreading skill and ability to pay close attention to detail.

Friendly and professional demeanor.

Must be a caring, punctual, enthusiastic and reliable teammate.

Exhibit tact and discretion.

Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Strong follow through, self-sufficiency, time management, and organizational skills.

Fearless computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Clio Software desired.

Avid learner: willingness to jump into learning and discovering new software that can improve the client experience.

This is a full-time position - office hours are Monday- Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm. While we strive to keep these hours, the demands of the practice often keep us later or get us in earlier.
