Probate and Trusts Litigation Attorney

Our Trusts and Estates Department is seeking a Probate and Trusts Litigation Associate with 1 to 5 years of experience. This Associate will primarily work in a practice that concentrates on probate and trusts litigation with a focus on uncontested and contested guardianships and conservatorships, will contests, trust disputes and breaches of fiduciary duty. This Associate will gain experience working directly with clients and representing them in court proceedings as well as developing litigation tactics and negotiation strategies for the dynamic and fast-paced practice area of probate litigation. The ideal candidate has a desire to learn quickly and develop expertise in probate litigation, a growing practice at Aronberg Goldgehn. Experience with, or a willingness to help out with, general commercial litigation is a plus.

Candidates should possess exceptional writing, analytical and legal research skills as well as the unique communication and interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, the courts and financial institutions. Candidates should also possess excellent academic credentials and must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision and be highly organized and responsive. Candidate will be a team player with a collaborative spirit and a compassionate nature.

Manage case progression:

Develop strategy and participate in strategy discussion.

Determine priorities and identify issues.

Delegate to and supervise work of paralegals and assistants.

Review and edit paralegal drafts of probate documents for formal probates, informal probates, guardianships and conservatorships.

Draft substantive complaints, motions, oppositions, correspondence and other pleadings for contested matters.

Research and prepare accompanying memorandums for various probate issues.

Draft and respond to interrogatories, subpoenas and document requests.

Attend meetings and court hearings.
