Real Estate Law Attorney
Fidelity National Law Group (in-house counsel for Fortune 500 Fidelity National Financial companies) is seeking an experienced real property and insurance litigator to join its Chicago, Illinois office. Fidelity National Law Group specializes in title insurance, escrow, and related litigation, including defending bad faith claims, as well as collections and lawsuits against third parties to recoup losses paid by the company. Day to day activities include investigating law and facts, preparing initial pleadings, discovery, motion practice and trials. Candidates should be familiar with pre-and post-judgment collections and be able to independently manage a large caseload. Real estate title litigation experience is also preferred.
Litigate cases to verdict, demonstrating superior use of trial skills and techniques.
Independently handle a full caseload with moderate level of severity and complexity from case inception through trial/resolution.
Work under the guidance of Senior Counsel in litigating complex and high exposure files.
Independently draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
Conduct legal research as needed and supervise projects delegated to paralegals. Candidate must also demonstrate an ability to mentor, train and work collegially with legal support staff.
Attend court hearings, depositions and other appointments independently.
Provide recommendations and case analysis to clients and claims personnel on appropriate litigation handling strategy.
Complete all required administrative tasks including preparing reports, tracking time and other matters appropriate to performance of job duties.
Learn and understand claim customer's expectations and business goals and assists them in meeting those goals.
Travel as required to meet business needs.
Federal and e-discovery experience preferred.
Graduation from an accredited law school with a strong academic record, and 5 years legal experience. Insurance litigation work desirable. Prior trial experience as lead counsel a must.
Articulate presentation skills using technology, strong and persuasive legal writing, and oral advocacy skills are required. Candidates must also effectively understand and utilize technology, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office products, and other law office management programs.
Applicants must be licensed with the State Bar of Illinois, with no record of discipline.
