Director of Matrimonial Litigation
The Attorney is licensed in Illinois and is responsible for overseeing all legal aspects for cases. Attorney will work from our Chicago office. Duties: • Manage assigned portfolio of client cases • Communicate with clients, internal staff and others to ensure case is handled appropriately. • Attend hearings, settlement conferences and other appearances as necessary. • Establish a strong follow-up system to ensure deadlines are not missed for which various pleadings must be served and filed. • Prioritize and work at a fast pace on a high volume of files, with a great attention to detail. • Travel to court and clients, as necessary. • Ensures coverage for attendance at hearings, settlement conferences and other appearances as necessary. • Recommends and drives continuous improvement for client service. • Provides internal and external training as required for effective client service and business growth. • Reviews case management system reports to ensure integrity standards are achieved and upheld. • Collaborates with direct reports in developing objectives and other standards; provides mentoring and guidance to attorneys and associates. • Holds direct reports accountable for high levels of client service, including timely response, good scorecards, and effective representation of client interests consistent with client requirements across all lines of business. • Formally evaluates direct reports annually; provides formal and informal feedback on-going and as needed. • Recommends compensation changes. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications • J.D from an ABA accredited law school • Bar Admission active and in good standing in Illinois. • Must have 8 or more years of experience. • Litigation skills • Previous experience with electronic case management systems preferred. • Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes and court procedures. • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients.
