Employment Law Counsel

HR Source, is an employers' association located in the western suburbs. We are seeking a part-time (32 hours per week) employment attorney to join our legal team. Our attorneys work with our 1200 members who are private, public and non-profit employers in manufacturing, service, and government industries. As you represent them in critical communications with government authorities and employees, your legal skills will greatly contribute to the future of their businesses. Additionally, you will provide ongoing advice and counsel to members concerning their daily employment law issues and challenges. To be considered for this position you must have:

A license to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Have at least three years of experience in employment law.

A demonstrable background in handling employment law issues and representation of employers before the EEOC, IDHR, DOL and IDOL, as well as experience advising clients in all areas of federal, state and local employment law.

Proven relationship-building skills and a strong sense of enjoyment in working as part of a team.

Experience presenting before large groups on employment law topics.

A typical workday could include:

Represent - Part of your focus will be on handling matters before administrative agencies.

Advice and Counsel - You will provide cost-effective, risk-reducing consultative services to our members. You'll devise solutions that address the full range of employment law problems, including wage and hour issues, hiring and firing procedures, discrimination prevention, and medical and family leave queries. You also will provide legal guidance to our staff of certified HR professionals.

Employee Handbooks - Our members frequently ask us to review and revise individual policies for existing handbooks, complete overall reviews and updates, or even develop a new handbook if the member has not previously had one or the current one is completely out of date. We also keep our members informed of changing laws and other regulations that may require policy changes.

Training and Presentations - We conduct employment law compliance training for HR professionals, organizational leadership and managers/supervisors. We frequently present at area conferences on legal topics.
