Area of Practice: 65-75 WPM, Workers Comp representing defendants / Litigation
Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national and international practice, seeks a Legal Assistant in its Chicago office.
The ability to type approximately 65 - 75 words per minute.
Familiarity with electronic filing in Federal and State Court.
Types general correspondence, memoranda and complex legal documents according to the requirements set by each practice group.
Transcribes dictation tapes (letters, memos of law, motions and briefs).
Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar.
Prepares check requests for processing with appropriate backup and timely submission to accounting for payment.
Types and coordinates expense reports.
Enters and edits attorney's time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required.
Maintains attorney(s') appointment calendar.
Coordinates all client related travel.
Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner.
Prepares and updates attorney case lists.
Receive, open, prioritize and distribute incoming mail.
Prepare materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc.
Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. vInteracts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm.
Ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
The ideal candidate should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long-term asset within the organization. The ideal candidate should have 5 or more years of Workers Compensation experience, preferably representing defendants.
3 or more years of litigation experience Exceptional organization skills.
Excellent typing skills.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
